- Google Directory: US Colleges and Universities – One of the best and quickest ways to get to the website of any college/university in the country.
- Higher Education Information Center – Website of Higher Education Information Center run by the Boston Public Library. The site has links to many college- and financial aid-related web sites. Also maintains calendar of college fairs & open houses in Boston area.
- The National Association for College Admission Counseling—Student Resources – Find out about major college fairs coming to your area, including the annual Performing and Visual Arts College Fair.
- Thompson Peterson’s – “Peterson’s Planner” college search engine, plus extensive database on summer opportunities, camps, and academic programs.
- The Princeton Review – Search this site by the school’s name, region, state, size, or cost. The site allows you to access and apply online to colleges. Also includes ratings of hundreds of colleges and a database of articles on all aspects of the admissions process.
- U.S. News and World Report – Choose “education” in file menu and “College Step-by-Step.” Site offers guidance on tackling admissions process in 6 steps.

- Finaid! – This free site offers “the most comprehensive annotated collection of information about student financial aid on the web.” Calculators for expected student and family contributions as well as loan payment calculator and college cost projections.
Standardized Testing
- ACT – The official website for the ACT standardized test. Obtain test dates, registration information, facts about the test, and practice materials.
- College Board – Permits you to register for the SAT as well as send your scores.
- Fair Test – The National Center for Fair and Open Testing. Maintains a list of colleges which consider SAT/ACT optional in the admissions process. Site offers current research facts about standardized testing.
